Default Radio question

I have a 08 XK n/a. I just had a Jaguar dealer activate the AUX function on the radio. I’ve noticed I can turn the radio on with the car off.
I had never tried to turn it on with the car off previously. Are you supposed to be able to turn on the radio with the car off and the key not in the car? Or is this a result of turning on the AUX?

When you turn off the car, it stays in convenience mode for 20-30 minutes (unless you lock it).
When you get in the car (open the door to get in) it will enter convenience mode.
You can turn on the radio in convenience mode.

Thank you for your reply. I do understand what you explained.
However, with the car unlocked, driver’s window down, car not running, fob not in the car, not started for 24 hours, I can reach in, push the radio button, first push lights the red light on the hazard/ flasher button, second push turns on the radio.

I just tried mine, been parked in the garage for about five hours now... EXACT SAME THING! First the red triangle comes on and the screen goes to the /R, another push and ON goes the radio! Or CD, or whatever was on last.
This only worked when NOT alarmed though. With the alarm on, only the screen comes on. Another push shuts the screen down.

Evidently this, for some reason, is the way it works.

Ah, thank you Cee Jay. After having the AUX function turned on at a Jaguar dealer the first time I pushed AUX and went back to SAT radio it did some weird stuff. It hasn’t done it again. So I won’t try to explain. I wanted to know if being able to turn on the radio as I described was a after effect of the dealer turning on AUX.
Evidently not. Thanks for checking yours.😊

Ok, found it hard to believe, so I just went to the garage where my car has sat for 24 hours with the top down, reached in… I’ll be danged, on came the last CD I was playing!
Locked the car (twice) and the audio turned on with button pushes. Noticed the steering wheel controls also worked. Ain’t that a kick in the…

What fun to own a Jaguar. There is always something new and strange to discover and to make sense of!

You have a 2008 XK Convertible. How many times have you been told that one of your backup lights is out?

It's a feature that you turn on via SDD software. Yes it's available on the 07, standard sound or premium.

Doesn't that also require the extra fittings inside the glovebox?

yep I had them in mine but there are aftermarket set ups now you can but from @WhiteXKR site. I think Old Jaguar built something that replaced the ACM.

There isn't an Aux jack in my glove box or anywhere else that I can see. There is a power outlet in the glovebox though.

OK understood. The old OEM solution was a device called ACM (Audio Connectivity Module). You won't likely find one around any more. Here is a newer option:

The ACM was an option on the 07 MY (US). You could try a breaker yard. It was included (I think) as standard on the 08 and 09 (US MY)

I know this might be a dumb question, but here goes…
I am the third owner of my XK. How can I tell, if one of the previous owners already had the AUX activated by a dealer?

So if you click on the link in post #15, you'll see an AUX option in the source dropdown. Apparently, when the SSD enables AUX it magically appears in the source options.
