Took delivery of my XJ in July 2010. Lived through most of the software horrors that the dealer had no answers for, but all issues were eventually addressed and fixed.
But...HD radio turns itself on regularly. I keep it off because whenever I use it the FM station repeats itself for 1-2 seconds. A DJ talking is like an old LP that skips. Does anyone know how to keep it off? Dealer says its in the radio frequency and the car is working to spec.

 

HD Radio cannot be permanently turned off. You can turn it off in the menu but when you restart the car it will be back on. Radio sounds much better in HD IMO.

 

Unfortunately in metropolitan areas like NYC the reception when on HD stinks. I much preferred before latest software upgrade that I could turn off HD and it would stay off when car was turned off. Now it is like I have a crappy transitor radio in my car always fading in and out and volue going up and down.

 

I can turn the HD radio off and it stays off the majority of the time, but for some reason it turns itself on intermittently. When this happens or when I turn HD on, the signal keeps switching from HD to regular several times a minute. This causes the "skipping" or the repeating whatever the DJ is saying. Must be the difference in the delay from HD to regular. Either way it's obnoxious.
