Default XJ Antenna pod cover cannot be secured properly

One day while driving, the the antenna pod cover located at the rear windscreen drop off. Went back tried to put back the pod cover but it cant seem to be properly secured.

After reading the TSB provide by Gears (Kudo to him) realised that there is a manufacturing defect. Contacted my dealer, luckily they will get me a new replacement.

First time I encounter such problem for a new car.

That is a known issue and had been adressed in one of the TSB's as you already mentioned. Looks like a fairly small number of early VIN's are having that issue. You must be one of the unlucky ones.

I wonder how much is involved to get all the parts correct from your suppliers. And how often they put faulty plastic parts in knowingly as anything else would mean putting nothing at all in, which means halting an entire production line. I found that many parts come from many different country's. That includes a lot of paneling and plastic on the interiour. Lots of it from Italy.

This reply might not be very timely but i just recently found this board.
When i pulled my brand new XJ out of the dealer's lot on 7/31/10, the antenna pod cover fell off. Tried to reattach but it didn't snap in. Over the next 30 days, as i was the dealers guinea pig for several mostly software issues, they replaced and haven't had any more issues.

Its a known issue of very early VIN cars. There is a TSB and fix. Dealer can fix in minutes and SHOULD before delivery or automatically by checking your VIN against TSB at your next scheduled service appointment.
