Dead Battery - now Convertible Top - NO RESPONSE
Friends,
I must apologize but I need some quick help. I am heading out of town for 6 weeks and after a dead battery (3 days away at the beach) my top would not respond at all on 2010 XK. Unfortunately I have an old 1930s house with a car port arrangement and not a sealed garage and I would like to check the critters out.
I was able to charge the battery and start the car but had to manually close the top and the rear windows are down and will not respond.
Any solutions? I tried the window up switch and then top down button reset dance but nothing. I also checked all the fuses and they are good.
Battery was put on tender and now it is fully charged. Any suggestions?
Battery is only 6 months old but it is not AGM - it is lead acid. I am getting an AGM immediately upon my return.
I have a Schumacher tender but just forgot to hook it up.
I am former Triumph Spitfire, Lotus Elise, Porsche Boxster owner so I am familiar with sports car aggravation but the battery issue on the XK ranks pretty dang close to the top.
As a side note or follow on question Is there any long term fix to battery or is the AGM battery with a tender the only one?
Thanks so much,
Ash Worboys
This dude just doesn’t get it done-

If you manually closed the top with a dead battery the top is now out of sync. Manually put the top down and stow it and try again. Top down is the reset position. Then make sure you remember to:
- Put the pump valve back to automatic
-Reset the windows again (it can take several tries sometimes)
-Put the luggage divider in place
-Shut the trunk.
-Have a helper press on the tonneau cover while you press the top close button if does not manually close full flush with the body.

Better Battery Made all the Difference!
Folks,
I have been in Kansas for the last 7 months and replaced the battery right before getting here and a top of the line AGM battery has been priceless. Always the lock the doors even for short trips in to the store to save juice as it will run down a bit and throw a low battery warning but nothing like before with the Duralast battery.
Thanks for all the help on here.

It's also similar to the X150, use the key to disengage the pump, unhook the front latch with same tool, then place the top into the back and reengage the pump. BUT follow the printed instructions, NOT this of what I write.
I did this to my old X100, so I'm partly familiar other than I'm older 'n **** and forget a lot.
