Default MT's Worlds Greatest Drag Race III

Here we go again...Motor Trends Drag Race year 3.

GTR wins again (Year 1 and Year 3). My suprises were GTR beating the high HP SLS Black Series and Viper. R8 V10 coming in 3rd (beating the Viper) and the E63 AMG station wagon coming in 5th beating Bentley GT Speed, M6 and F-Type V8S.

I mirror your very same surprises. I would have placed the SLS in first place, just like in the track competition. There is definitely more to the GTR than the starting traction, even though the SLS was catching it big at the finish.

The controversial subject with this year's GTR was the post-track talk among the testers that the GTR was loosing big chunks of boost as the temperatures increased. In one instance it was observed at only 7psi, instead of its "normal" 15psi. That would be the loss of close to 100 HP. It would not be a factor for a quarter mile, starting with cool engines and intercoolers, but, would be in any sustained driving environment.

The AMG beating the Bentley was not much of a surprise, 4700lbs beating 5100, but coming in ahead of the much lighter M6 (4200lbs) and the even "lighter" F-type (4000lbs) was a suprise, indeed. Mercedes must have something figured out with their power delivery.

I know that no-one even noticed the little econobox back there but, 14.6@95MPH is nothing to complain for a car in that category.
