I've moved your question from X100 to X150 forum. This is the place to post questions about your model.

Members here who use their radios will be able to help.

I bit more info is needed here. Does it sound like the engine strains to start? Are there other symptoms you are noticing?

Often, a low battery can cause "gremlins" that are electrical in nature. Check the battery voltage at rest (all electrical draws off) to see if it is at least 12.6V. If not investigate the battery's condition. If you haven't already done so, think about using a battery tender like a CTEK when you are not using the car for a few days.

Car starts fine. Wondering if it has to do with temp. It is starting to warm up here & notice that it happens more often in the afternoons verses mornings.

Temp. swing should not make a difference as to something working vs not working. When you shut down the car do you leave the radio on or turn it off. When you start the car do you then turn on the radio or do you assume it will turn on based on you leaving it on when you shut down the car. Back to the battery as I believe you have a 2010 so do we assume you have the original battery. If so 8 years may be the problem. As others have said have it checked and verify if it is good. By the way non-essentials start to shut down 1st with a weak battery. Radio's are in that category.

Mine is the same. Replaced battery a few months ago. Still have the problem.

Sometimes it is a long quiet ride...

I had the same problem I figured out 2 reasons why.

#1 you are starting your car too fast, there has to be a least 2-3
seconds before opening your door and starting your car, if you open
your door and instantly press the brake while sitting down and pressing start
(when in a rush) the stereo will not come on because the system did not
have time to fully energize.

#2 USB drive in the port has too many songs or too large files which
take excessive time to load before starting up the stereo

Sometimes the satellite section of the radio will not turn on when I start the car. Solution switch AM or FM and then back to sat and starts right up.

Interesting. Will keep #1 in mind, though I am pretty sure it has happened to me after sitting in the car for a while. I take the ferry everyday and often shut the motor off. When restarting, sometimes the radio won't come on. I don't have a USB port so that is not it. I also thought it was not holding the start button down long enough, but I have had mixed results there too.

Beginning to think it is just a fluky screen, or the battery thing, though my battery should be fine.

Sometimes it takes multiple restarts before it starts working again.

One other thing that causes this is if you shut the car off, and then turn
on the radio while waiting in the car, then exiting the car locking the car
without shutting off the radio first.

the next time you come back the screen will stay off because
the timer on the radio shut it down and will not stat back up with out
locking and reopening then starting again.

My car had actually logged "too fast starts", the indie tech I go to told me. They said the instruction in the tech documentation was simply to advise the customer to be less hasty, so now I try to wait a few seconds after sitting down. Anyway, since there is a specific code for it, I guess one really is supposed to wait a short bit before starting the car...

I've had a similar issue with mines. The entire screen would light, go dark, light, go dark, etc. It would do this for X time interval. On average, approximately 5 to 7 minutes before the screen would be lit and the radio would come on. It was as if it was rebooting constantly. I replaced the battery and that seemed to have fixed the issue. However, if I don't drive the car for a few days, it will do it again, only it doesn't take as long to turn on for good. Maybe 30 seconds to a minute. Also, when I have my USB connected and start the car, sometimes if I try to skip a song, it'll reboot. But afterwards it's fine. These are particular cars we drive. I guess all supercars have something or other you have to "get used to."
