Default Car Stereo question

Hi,
I posted this question a while ago but no one responded so I'll try again as the issue I am having is so annoying.

The ignition hot lead that goes to my radio is NOT live while I am engaging my starter. I want an ign hot lead that is live when I crank the starter. Any idea if I can find one?

In case you are interested in why I want this I will explain. I have satellite radio that has a pause button. So it is very possible that I might be say 10 minutes behind live broadcast at any time. Let's say I bring my wife say to the grocery store for a few minutes and I stay in the car. I usually shut down the engine while I wait and continue to listen to my radio. The problem is when my wife returns and I start up the car my radio turns off while I am cranking the starter and when the radio starts up it is live and I lost the last 10 minutes. This is extremely annoying especially if you are listening to a talk show.

Anyone out there have any ideas to get around this problem?
Happy Holidays!

There are 3 B + inputs into the original Alpine AJ9500A stereo head alone . As to your substitution would probably need the pin out of the substitution unit's rear connector before the adapter harness . In this design parameter you wouldn't want it to come off the hot at all times bus but a switch to enable so for the few minute you are out and restarting . You have 3 hot at all times terminal post on the upper ( and I mean high up in there ) aft side of the engine firewall and can use a feed wire aft from there .

Yes, I considered a switch that would basically use a wire directly from the battery. I guess that will be the only way!

Had someone who had the terminal post to the starter came loose and wouldn't start so that would be a good choise to use and ensure that post is squared up .

See above edited print as you are tapping power before the king relays . Another option is to pull power from the hot at all times item's fuse location or the fuse box terminal post themselves . But would require running wire under center console . Choose your poison .

I just realized that I never updated my thread. So here goes:

In the end I used this cool timer delay rely FRM01 which I got on ebay for about $6. This little devise has 18 mode settings. Basically you can set the relay to be off for a certain length of time (up to 270 hrs) and on for a certain amount of time (again up to 170 hrs). I chose mode 10. The relay is closed when it has 12+ from the radio power supply and after removing this power supply (usually by removing the car keys) the timer kicks in and keeps power to my radio for an additional 15 minutes. This way if I am listening to a satellite station that is say 40 minutes behind live (because I paused the radio for 40 minutes) now when I shut my car off for a few minutes and restart the car the station is still 40 minutes behind live (not live meaning that I did not lose the 40 minutes). This timer is very good for many application,

Here is a link to a video showing it in action:
Here is the instruction manual:

A quick check of a possible and easy to tap into would be the glove compartment light . just open it up and see if it blinks on starter usage . This supply wold be limited to keeping the satellite stereo alive and not be enough to amplify the speakers .

Another possibility is the power pin of the OBD - ii port which stays alive since is on the same hot at all times fuse that controls the fuel pump relay . not the heavy current wire powering the fuel pump it is controlling .

You would be using pin 9 , the White / Pink wire
