Default Nav system ... how many DVDs

Hello (again).

I purchased my 07 XK used and I got the "US+Canada" 2006 DVD in the player (I just checked). I like in Minnesota ("MN") and it shows map detail (street names, POI, etc) for Minnesota but it won't allow me to use it as a search region. Also, it doesn't show MN on the DVD nor in the Nav system menu.

Observation: It's odd the DVD has detail for Minnesota but isn't able to set waypoints and destinations on it.

Question: I assume MN is included on another DVD. How many DVDs are sent with a set of maps? No additional ones were included with the owner's manual for my car (and I did get a Nav system manual).

Oh, and when I look at the physical DVD, it doesn't say anything like "1 of 3".

Thanks!

You are correct, there are two DVDs for the US and Canada. Evidently you have the one for NOT Minnesota, eh. The two-disk set is usually $200, but you can sometimes find the one/half for sale from someone who only needs the other one. OR, you could buy the two disk set and sell your east coast disk Since yours is the Eastern, you'll need the Western. The one in your picture is quite old, you could get the newest one which is 2013-2014 and it will also update your Nav Firmware.

I believe that Jaguar and Volvo use the same nav disks and that they're made by Denso. Try eBay for a used Western disk that is newer than yours. Price varies by year - newer usually costs more.

Thanks Cee Jay and Stuart -- I'll get looking for updated DVDs (or at least the other 2006 DVD).

The CD's are 1) East of the Mississippi and 2) West of the Mississippi.

They are usually available on eBay from various sellers, usually under $50.

Of course, try to find the latest version as streets are constantly being added.

My XKR came with an "East" CD and it was easy to find a "West" on Ebay.

Once you get the proper CD, just remove the old, insert the new into the CD player in the trunk and the system will self-learn the new disc in less than 10 minutes.

Thanks Richard -- Ironic that I live about 20 miles from the Mississippi. Sigh ...!

Incidentally, I can sort of work around some of these challenges. It does know the roads and can route in (for instance) Minnesota. I can also add waypoints as long as I don't try to do them by address (my house is defined as a waypoint and it will navigate there for me).

You need to go into "Destination Entry" and then "Search Area" and set it to "MN". At least this is how it is on my 2012.
