Im having issues with my navigation in the 07 XK8. It works but many buttons are not available and at times they come back and go again I can never put in an address as the town option never displays. Ive changed the battery so power has been cut and Ive dischrged dvd and cleaned it, No information in the manual and have searche din the forums with no results Anyone experience this. Very odd symptoms for a GPS unit.
Your unit is at a minimum thirteen years old. The last new DVD's were made by Volvo in 2016 and are available from a Volvo dealer. Having said all that. If you have a smart phone download Android Auto or the Apple equivalent and use the GPS in your smartphone. It is always up to date and current.
North America navigation requires two disks, although I cannot remember which disk (or both) includes Canada.
The Volvo disk is a good map update, but you lose the option of the British Chick Voice.
Hey there, I appreciate you comments on here. I just drove through Utah to home from picking up the car, WOW, what a beautiful state! The car and manual for this 07 XK8 only writes of 1 disc. Its odd that it works its just with limited options where some come and go. irst thought was the battery but I replacd it and no change. I love the british chick voice on my garmin and will sacrifice her if needed. lol This is just really odd. I have to touch a spot and pin it and the system will work. Im looking at pulling it to oher power and see what happens unless I hear from someoen who has experience the same.
Not while driving, only parked and here is what I get and am unable to enter any town. Most times I dont even get the buttons to get to this point. Seems like an electrical issue but battery is at 12.6 volts.
Your nav is displaying Washington, DC. Are you in D.C. or in Winnipeg, CN?
If you're in Canada and your nav is displaying D.C., it's because the East disk is installed in the reader. You need the West disk. Look around in the trunk and ??? for that disk. It's possible that a previous owner sold the West disk if he had no use for it.
If you can't find it, here's one on Ebay. It's cheap because the maps are old and obsolete. But if that's not a concern, and you can't find the West disk, then go for it!
Thank you, that makes sense. So if in the west this is the result? Yes I am in Canada and picked up the car in California froma WOman who brought it down there from Toronto. So most important if in the west this is the result? It makes sense to me and will buy that disc and appreciate your input. They are old discs and am wondering what would be the cost of a complete update to 2018 or 19.
All good. When you said 2 discs I was thinking a support or a instructional disc. Now I see the sates on the disc and it make sense. Had you said one for east and one for west i would have clicked in, lol
I thought Canada was on both discs.
Eject the disc that you have and what it covers is printed on the disc.
You need to select the search area before the town. Your search area is currently DC.

+1. Android Auto and Waze also has a ton of additional functionality not found in *any* OEM satnav. For example, up-to-the-minute real-time routing around jams plus hazard notifications plus speed camera locations etc etc etc. And it's free. Mrs Barnsie has the very latest satnav in her Porsche, but guess what she uses every time she goes out?
Shocking prices for a worse solution than Waze offers for free! How on earth do manufacturers think they can justify charging hundreds of dollars for a DVD disc with a map on it, when the likes of Google and Waze (and TomTom in Europe via Amigo) all offer superior navigation for zero cost??
There are no 2018 or 2019 disks. The last nav disk from Jaguar is for 2014. The most current nav disk is from Volvo (same Denso nav system) for 2016 and costs less than $200. It's available online from Volvo dealers and prices vary, so shop around. Part number is in the above thread, in a link to another thread. It is a single disk with both East and West USA and all of Canada. It's easy to install and works well, except that the British bird's accent is nowhere to be found - but I'm not sure if that's true for Canada.

$14 would seem about right and fair for a recent update considering the other comment here of having other options for free. Im just downloading the latest from Volvo and will put it on a DVD and try it for W. Canada. Its free so will let all know how it works out.
I doubt that what you're doing will work. That free Volvo map download appears to be for 2017 and up Volvos that don't use the same older Denso system used by Jaguar in the X150 models.
From the link you posted to the free Volvo maps:
"Note: If you own an XC90 that was delivered to you prior to November 14, 2016, please be sure your car has received the most recent software update at your local authorized Volvo dealer."
