Default Need new battery for '07 XK; confused by new Interstate model (MT5 vs MTX)

Howdy folks,

Had the current battery (AAA 49-C) in place for a few years and now seeing some wonky behavior (issues starting, battery drain, etc.) rear it's ugly head again...

Trolling past posts, I see that several folks recommend Interstate, which is commonly sold by Costco (which I have within .5 mile from where I live). The wizard for Interstate recommends the MT-93/T8...which Costco no longer sells... Alternatively, several forums posts mention the following:

"The Interstate AGM battery is MTP-49/H8A (the A designates AGM)
Note: According to Interstate, this is an older part number. The New number is MT5-49/H8"

However, I can not find the MT5-49/H8 anywhere. What I do find is the MTX-49/H8.

Couple questions I have:
  • Is the MTX-49 a replacement for the MT5-49?
  • Is the MTX-49 compatible with my XK? Is it vented?
I'm also open to alternatives sold by AutoZone, etc. Based out of South Florida. TIA!

Default MTX-49/H8.

I installed the MTX-49/H8 in my 07 in 2019. Purchased from Ace Hardware (0rdered). Great battery rarely have I needed the tender in use as drive the car once weekly.

Give AAA a look. Good member prices and installed.

I bought a Duracell group 49 AGM from Sam's Club for $179 about six months ago. It happened to be faulty off the shelf, so I brought it back and got the non-AGM Duracell there for $129.
Edit:
Oops, Sam's Club, not Costco.

Found my records... In June 2023, the AAA battery was $179 with free installation (member). That was appreciated when this particular battery proved to have a fault and needed replacement (again free labor) a couple of months later.

Thanks folks. Went with Interstate@Costco for $179 + tax. Brought in the old AAA core, confirmed that the dimensions were identical and in 15 minutes had the new battery installed...now working perfectly.

Reading the other posts about battery drain I'll keep in mind to have the car locked *and* on maintainer while away on long trips. Thanks again.
