Default Battery Question

My battery died on my 1997 XJ6 VDP.
Since there are computers and all sorts in the car, is replacing the battery as simple as loosening the terminals and replacing the battery OR is there a procedure to replacing it.? I am concerned that if I change the battery I will get lights on at the dash....because I did not take a fuse out prior to removing the battery or something of that nature.
Thank You.
Wayne.

Your car is known as X300.
This section is for the X350.

You should post in the correct section for a more specific response.

Hi Wayne,

I have disconnected batteries in numerous X300s with no problem after reconnection. I seem to recall that in some regions of the world the radios required a security code after battery disconnection, but I don't believe this is the case in the U.S. Just to be certain, check your Drivers Handbook/Owners Manual.

Cheers,

Don

Default should be good

I have a 1996 VDP U.S. spec (X300) and have replaced the battery without issue, so don't worry about the "memory retainer".

Note- I do have an aftermarket stereo, so that may be one difference to investigate.

Thank you Don,
I've been lurking on this site for some time. Seems I need to give something back to the cause.
