Warranty due to expire shortly. Need recommendations on a reasonable reputable extended warranty.

Thanks in advance for any advice/recommendation.

i never heard of good ones, i will go with jag if you can extend one, but other than that all other warranty , always find a way to not help you out.

Thank you. I've heard the Jag extended warranties would require me to sell my first born son lol.

Zurich is by far the best out there (bumper to bumper, no questions), but you pay for it. Sold by many dealerships, so you can shop around.
Zurich owns Universal Underwriters, which is cheaper, and has a few more gotchas, but still respected.

I have Fidelity on my XK and have had no issues yet, (but only 2 visits to the dealership in the year I have had her).

Vince

(Note: if you get an extended, do it while the car is under warranty, otherwise inspection fees may apply)

Thanks Vince very helpful as always.
Best quote and comfort level based on reputation so far has been
EASYCARE
3 years 75K
Total Care $4550 $250 deduct

STATEDCARE
3 years 75K $3620 $250 deduct

Easy Care Total care is regarded as the best warranty by most. It is very popular, especially in the Porsche community. I had this warranty on my 996 TT and it was very good- it more than paid for itself and I had no issues with any repair (quick approval, all stated covered items were covered, etc)
When I bought my new Xkr -s at the dealership the only extended warranty they offered for my car was easy care (no jag warranty available). I got total care- 2 extra years/60k total miles for $3k ($250 deduct)

Anyone have any experience with CARCHEX. They come in cheaper than EASYCARE by $600 and $100 deduct able.

For $4500, That is a heck of a lot of repairs at my indy. Would rather keep my money and take a chance.

My two visits so far in my first year have exceeded $1800.

Taking chances not an option for me based on the exhorbitant costs to fix Jags. One catastrophic event could equal the coverage cost for 3 years.

IMHO

Make sure you do your research on this warranty. 3rd party warranties have a bad rap for a reason- they go out of business, they don't cover what they say they do, and there are major delays getting repairs done. I know first hand about easy care and have heard fidelity is also good.
I would talk to at least one person or repair shop who has experience with this warranty before purchasing it. Last thing you want is to loose all of your money to save a few bucks

That's the truth! Bought an online warrantybynet way back in the early 2000's to have that company fold!

One of the reasons I have no fear recommending a company the size of Zurich or UU!

Good advice Octurbo!

I've had three warranties on the past three Jags I/we have had. The best one was Mercury Automotive repair coverage. The independent shop I use has told me several times how good they are. They said they never haggle and just ask "how much are you charging?" of the shop. Had that warranty on both the 07 XKR and my wife's VDP. We just had the tranny pan and fluid replaced on her car, cost was $777 and some change.

That's the good news...bad news is that we have *never* had enough cost in repairs to pay for the warranty. The Mercury warranty was 48 months/100K miles at a cost of around $4800, zero deductible. We've had the 05 VDP for about 6 years now and in those 6 years we've had about $2300 of work done. The 02 XKR probably had about $2000 over the 5 years I had that car, and the 07 XKR had no work in the year I had it. I got a prorated refund of the reminaing warranty left when I traded it for the 2010, and lost about $1400 of the $4300 I paid for the warranty.

Based on the reliability and the history of repair costs of these cars from *my* experience, you will more than likely lose money on a warranty.

But if it helps you sleep at night...

That has also been my experience from owning the my VDP. Heck, the guy I sold it to a year ago hasn't spent a nickel on repairs either. My Jaguar shop says they never see V8 engines dying and only one supercharger has ever failed from their customers. This is a major Jaguar repair garage, fwiw.

Decided on CARCHEX but still hesitant. Trying to conduct my own "cost benefit analysis". Many pros and cons. Do I bank the $$$ and take the risk or have piece of mind 47K miles on an 09 XK

WHAT TO DO. WHAT TO DO. UGH

Insure it yourself and keep the money if you do not need repairs.

Put $1000-$2000 in a dedicated reapir savings account to start and add about $50-$100 a month.

Get your repairs at a qualified Jag independent and save over dealer charges.

Valid intelligent position one which I'm considering.
