Need your advice again on an XF issue...
Another XF question, but you guys are the best. (Price of fame, I guess):
So my Sportbrake with the 3.0 V6 (get one, they're great!) just passed 110,000 miles. I've been noticing a strange noise:
the car is beginning to sound more like a motorcycle. The "waaaaaahhhh, WOOAAHHHHHH" whine as it shifts through the gears is becoming more and more pronounced.
- to be clear, the car runs and shifts fine. If you'd not driven it before it might seem like that's the normal sound of the car -- but it sounds REALLY off to me. And the sound is new (past 2500 miles or so).
- in the life of the car the transmission has never been touched.
I originally thought this was an engine-related sound but someone who rode in it swore it was a transmission thing. Since the car drives fine there is a temptation to let it go, bui at over 100,000 miles I say no. But I've never heard of transmission noise being an issue. Am I missing something?
As always, thanks in advance!
(Unrelated: lately, in parking garages, the steering makes a slight moaning sound on turns that I swore was a sign of low power steering fluid-- until I discovered these cars don't have power steering fluid?? So what could that be?)

You're in the X150 Forum, for 2007 - 2015 XK/XKR models. You should post your question here, in the X250 Forum for 2007 - 2015 XF/XFR models.
Not too good at deciphering your attempt at pronouncing a noise. But thanks for causing the smirk.
At 100,000 miles you are truly well beyond the preferred scheduled maintenance of your transmission, as described by ZF.
I’d also suggest a look at the differential.
Cheers!
