Default New Continental ExtremContact Sport Tire

Hi

Has anyone tried these on an XKR yet - they are a brand new tire.

My 2013 XKR's original Dunlop Sport Maxx (rears) are toast at 14K miles and I was going to replace them with the same as I still have decent tread on the fronts, but then I started looking at the rubber man (Michelin PSS) as a possible alternative. Then I noticed that Continental developed this new tire to compete directly with MPSS and they are being very well reviewed.

I should perhaps say I live in Northeast, but only drive the Jag in Summer, and not in wet weather as I had a RICA Stage 2 kit and performance exhaust installed and it is speced to produce 630+HP so I don't go out in the rain. I thought the handling of the Dunlops acceptable, and they were pretty quiet when new, so I don't want anything inferior to that.

Thanks for any help!

Can't say, but it looks to be a successor to my DW(Dry Wet).

Good traction from the compound, wet and dry.

Mushier in feel than the Ventus Evo 2 they replaced.

I was attracted to the tire from the center ribs without cross tread. Its not a usual design, but for some one not taking it in slush, its the way to go. My experience with the out going model says give it a try.

One thing that has surprised me, is how they've held up on tread life. I've made it a year and still have tread. @_@

I have these on my BMW 535 and they are terrific tires. Not the stickiest tires on the road but are a very solid blend of performance, quietness, wear, and all weather traction. I am about 1000 miles away from new tires on my XKR and will be putting on the Conti's.

Hi
These are NOT the DW or DWS.
They only started shipping last month.

You are 100% correct RK. Mine are the DW...not DWS.

Yup, and the DW and DWS are quite different animals.

This new tire is similar to the DW, the outside surface is where the change is most dramatic. There is a smaller gap between the outmost tread block, and the second outmost compared to the DW.
