Default New shoes installed today.

After 4+ years we finally needed new tires. Was real happy with the Hankook Ventus V12 evo2 that were on from the dealer and went back to the same. After pricing through many sources including Tire Rack my Tampa dealer was only $5 per tyre different than buying online, plus they had a reasonable $99 mount and balance fee. That is plenty competitive for me so off it went. Also sprung for an alignment at $190 or so along with an oil change. They inspected and found no other issues.

This has been a great car! The previous set of rubber had gotten pretty thin, took the opportunity to turn traction completely off and drift a bit over the last week. That was fun but now I must treat the pristine treads a bit better. And yes, I checked the lugs to make sure they are all tightened...

Same tires I have and have had. Good choice. Course I may try the Contis soon.

I have seen those favorable reports on the Conti's, looked them up and pricing was similar. Decided to stick with the familiar Hankooks. Sounds like either is a choice that wins.

nice. I was looking at those today too, but I went with the good year eagle sport on the front. Keeping the contis on the back.

Man, that must be nice. I go through one, one and a half sets a year.

A consequence of low mileage usage! Before my Wife had her early retirement we averaged 12,000 a year and would blow through tires like you about every year and a half.

Now we put on 200 miles a month. That is using it nearly daily. With the gym 3.9 miles, 4 different grocery stores 1 mile each direction, restaurants galore within 3 miles, gas a half mile, we just don't end up as a daily event burning miles. I do average 13 miles per gallon so those trips are typically with a heavy throttle.

I walk out and decide which car to take based on weather and usage, the SUV or the Jag. Before I downsized to 2 from 4 vehicles it was a chore to make sure they were all used regularly!

You may have misunderstood- my tires don't last a year to year and a half... I go through at least one, sometimes half of another set per year. I budget two grand for tires per year. Most of the miles are up in the mountains and on the track, so it's worth every penny.

PS: I grew up in Bradenton; if I lived there again, I wouldn't drive much either. No fun roads. But I'd definitely have a boat again.

Aren't those Hankooks directional tires? I had them on my G35 years ago, and realized after there was no way to rotate them, unless I removed each tire from the rim and reinstalled them. On top of that, my car was a staggered set up like the Jag. I know alot of owners go for Hankooks and the price can certainly be a factor. How was the noise level?

I don't believe they are directional, but not a rotator so doesn't matter to me anyway. My tires lasted 4 years without rotating so why start now. They were pretty evenly worn within a small delta variance.

Very low noise, no problems at all with this tire. Reality is we only notice when they are problematic, tires that are not an issue are just that, an irrelevant conversation because they perform the function they are supposed to without any drama. When I had a Porsche with Pzero tires they were exceptionally noisy when they were in the last 25% of life. No such story with the Hankook.

07XK Base 82Kmi

I have michelin pilot sport 4s', about 60% used, and I find them noisy, particularly on the pavement used on south Florida interstates (95 and 595 for the most part). The pavement is fairly coarse, probably to give better traction in heavy rain.

Thinking of going to Conti Extreme contact all season. While I'll never drive the XK in snow, I've always liked the tread pattern, as it seems fairly quiet on my BMW's. Of course, my BMW's are all quieter than the XK. Also the UTQG of 560 for long wear.

Anyone had experience with the Conti Extreme Contact on the XK?

Search the forum for DWS and you will see threads that reference that tire. Some have reported that the harder tire compound as being less desirable for them.

Have the DWS 06 (before PLUS) on my 07 XK, and while they are quiet enough, the sidewalls are a bit soft.
Put the DWS 06 PLUS on my Lexus (to replace the out-of-round Michelins), and again they are quiet enough, and on this car I don’t mind the softer sidewall.

Good point. Were you using 19" or 20" on the XK?

I had these (also 19" rim) installed in November. My total cost with tax, install and balance was $1045. I have about 800 miles on them but like them so far.
Quiet and nice ride (compared to P Zero Summer tires they replaced anyway) works for me as well as year round use here in New England. Grip is good although only a couple rainy days encountered and don't drive on snowy or icy days. Don't know about soft sidewalls but steering is good too. A fine GT tire as far as I'm concerned.
Continental has some good warranties you should check out on their website although mileage warranty is halved for staggered setup as tires aren't rotated.
Lots of good choices out there so good luck on your final selection.

I have been using the Continental DWS06 tires since I got my car in February of 2016. Have been very pleased with them, they are quiet and stick well on wet or dry roads. About three weeks ago I had to replace the rear pair, this will be my first encounter with the plus tires. I only have about three hundred miles on that pair at this time but so far, I am very happy with them.

yes, its that time to replace the summer’s.

I was thinking the that the spec front size works very well. 255/35-20
But Im not sure about the rears at 285/30-20… too little sidewall. was thinking 285/35-20 but in the end changed it to 295/30-20 (availability issues).

Moving from the P Zero’s to Pilot Sport 4s’ for a change of pace.

Unless I missed something, why not go with the summer tires? Conti's Summer tires are relatively quiet, sidewalls are nice and stiff, and they handle pretty well in the rain (mind you, if it's raining I'm not attacking apex's).
