Sorry guys, I had to upload pics from my phone and couldn't edit the upload to add text on my desktop for some reason.
First pic is of stock speakers. 1" tweeters, 6.5" paper door speakers and a plastic 6.5" subwoofer. (Never in all my speakers swaps have I ever seen a plastic woofer). I saw a post that said the door speakers were 5 1/4" so I got a component system in front and two way in the back. Even with the smaller speakers it gets louder than the 6.5's with no distortion. The crossover that comes with the component system separates the highs to the tweeters and the mids to the 5 1/4". The rear are two way so have a mid and tweeter combo. The speakers and woofer are now poly based material instead of plastic/paper. There was also a 4" round center dash speaker that I completely removed. I was able to punch my finger through the paper speaker without much pressure. The Woofer/amp was removed in the passenger footwell. The speaker hole was tight so some plastic had to be shaved to fit the new woofer. After install the sound was crisper and cleaner. The tweeters no longer distorted because of the lack of mid/high separation. The rears now had highs in them. The woofer bass was much tighter and bassier. The center speaker no longer made the sound muddy. Despite having smaller speakers the system was louder without distortion. Definitely worth it.

Kazi, well done, useful info would be:
  • MY
  • Coupe or vert (although suspect by your location it'll be the latter)
  • Cost
  • Time taken
  • URL's of the speakers used?

I remember on my old X100 I upgraded to an Infinity Kappa 11 speaker system in 2011, a my local dealer we tried it out alongside a B&W in a X150 and a Mark Levinson system they had in a lexus, all agreed mine sounded far superior, which was a surprise

Will be leaving my X150 alone for a few years though

So the doors are 5 1/4, I heard they could be 6.5. Can you confirm the doors fit 5 1/4 perfectly?

The stock door speaker is 6.5” but the problem is most speakers today have a bigger magnet in the back. Its been so long I’m not sure newer style 6.5” would fit. Even the 5 1/4” needed some cutting to fit and one or two new holes for different screw pattern. The key is to make the speaker cover be able to hide the imperfections you made behind it. The crossover box also had mounting room. If you doing all the speakers a component tweeter/mid makes the most sense with prices much lower than they used to be and all the disassembly work. If just the mid door speakers 5 1/4” is the safer bet. Upgrade the quality not the size. The cabin is small so volume is not an issue. Anything you do will yield noticeable difference in sound quality.
