Hey guys, I am picking up a 07 XK from the dealer on Wednesday, the current owner sent it over for its annual service. I am curious the cost and how often your XK's are in for scheduled service.

Also, in Southern California which fuel do you use?

Follow the schedule listed in your owners manual. As for fuel, which oil, which tires etc those topics get beat to death in every vehicles forum use the search feature to read the hundreds of pages in that. Bottom line is use 91 and you're fine

So far, with just under 2 years of ownership, I've only taken my 2007 XK to an indy for an annual oil change, which I plan to do myself this year. Other things I've done myself (air filters, thermostat & housing (when the thermostat stuck open)).

I did an annual for sure and then break/fix whatever came up in between which there was a few. Cracked transmission oil pan, control modules, leaking AC, and tires are what comes to mind. Make sure to use the correct Castrol motor oil. Actually, it's best to only used OEM and factory specific parts and fluids. Do a brake fluid flush at minimum of every other year. 30k, do the transmission oil pan. Save you doe for the AC fix...

Yes I jumped the gun a bit, been reading a lot of posts that have answered my questions and then some. New to this awesome forum and Jaguar ownership so got a little too excited!

I see you're in Murrieta... make sure you get a windshield sun blocker as the dash will take a beating.

Default 2007 Maintenance

I take my car to the dealer annually for an oil change. They do a very thorough inspection gratis and a great wash job. Agree on bi-annual brake fluid flush also.

I would also recommend replacing the thermostat housing, which has numerous cooling lines attached. It's plastic and not worth risking an overheating engine. You can buy the part online pretty reasonably and I had an indie do my install.

Also, check to make sure that the infamous duck bill is not clogged. Lots of posts on that topic. I use a bent coat hanger to twiddle the duck bill a couple times a year, just to be on the safe side.

Finally, protect the leather dash. I treat mine regularly with Lexol and, in the summer, use a dash cover. It's ugly but keeps the 9 year old leather out of the sun.

Thanks, good idea. Fortunately its not a daily driver, just a nice weather cruiser.

Yes to all the above, I appreciate the tips. However, hanger in the Duck bill.. is this anything like snipe hunting with the newbie. LOL. Ok I'll bite and search for the infamous duck bill.

Kj when did you do your thermostat & housing , I replaced mine last December.

Bob with yours also being a 07 this is the first thing Id be getting changed, as the xk has an absolutely terrible temp gauge (two modes either fine or turn me off due to intense heat) you don't want to become stranded somewhere

I changed it Oct. 4, 2015 (just checked my records). Somewhere around 40,000 miles on the clock.

Carcraft Sunshade is mandatory! Fits great and folds. I buy one for every car I own. If have to park outside for more than 2 of hours, the shade goes on.

CARCRAFT or COVERCRAFT? The Carcraft ones seem like cheap Chinese things.
The COVERCRAFT ones seem like they are much, much better.

I can't find a link for Carcraft only Cover Craft - I don't see anywhere on the site that there is a custom one for the XKR.

I picked a generic from Canadian Tire for $19 - cut it to fit - works good - dash is much cooler as well as the inside the car.

Bought a second one and cut to fit the side windows too.

And in there you'll find this link:

for $45.94.

Yup, that's the one. Comes in a nice protective sleeve too. Got one in my trunk, and use it whenever I'm going to park outside for awhile.
