Default New XKR minor issues. Hood cycle and Whine

Hi All, I sold my 2006 XK last week and immediately had 'sellers regret' as I watched it disappear up the road, I loved the car but wanted something a little more sporty without being a Boxster, so found myself looking at the XKRs on Autotrader and Ebay. Long story short bought a very nice 2007 XKR in black but it does have a few minor issues I could do with some help with.
Hood:- The hood opens and closes fine (eventually) but seems to wait between steps. Initial press sees the front unclip from the windscreen, it raises a couple of inches and then stops, then about 10 seconds later it completes the cycle and stows away. When closing, the rear cover opens, the hood starts to move then stops...waits for 10 seconds then runs through the cycle but after the hood has latched it waits 10 seconds before the rear windows close, we then get a bleep to say all is complete but the front windows are still open which is strange as my XK did close the windows at the end of the cycle.

Whine:- There is a constant high pitched whine from the front passenger (UK) side of the engine compartment, sounds like a fuel pump going bad, is that normal? any ideas.

Have booked the car in for a full service and transmission flush and new filter as it's done 104k and wondered what other preventative maintenance might be necessary. Timing chains sound fine but should I be looking to get them replaced?

Did a deal with the garage to sell it as trade so have no warranty to fall back on but saved a lot on the sticker price, very happy with the car just need some decent weather to get out and enjoy it.

ohhh, you mean the “convertible top” and not the “bonnet”….
LOL, I was scratching my head over the first 2 sentences wondering how on earth the bonnet latch would be delayed.

“Whine” is not expected. Supercharger? Belt idler pulley? another bearing? Get it sorted
At 104K and without historical knowledge of the maintenance, I’d be doing it all…
Engine Oil and filter
Fuel filter
Air filters
Supercharger fluid,
Steering fluid and reservoir
Brake fluid
Coolant
Plugs,
Belt,
Idler pulley,
Battery??
Transmission fluid and pan.
Differential fluid. magnet??
Injectors??
Check suspension and bushings
Check alignment.
and I probably missed something but I’ve only had 1 caffe latte.

It may sound like a boat load (boats on my mind as I’m recently back from the Seattle Boat Show)
But the XKR is a different machine from the XK. Enjoy it!

Thanks, that's a good call for belts and plugs and might as well get all the fluids changed, its only money after all and the kids don't need to eat everyday really.
Hood, Bonnet, Trunk, Gas, Petrol, UK and US separated by a common language. Ha

I prefer to reference Oxford and not Webster… but I am surrounded by the others who think Google is an authoritative English language source.
As for cars vs children… ;-), lol.

Right, except that the respondent is in Canada!

Regarding the hood (top) It is supposed to cycle through the process in 18 seconds. Take a look at thejaguarwrangler.com website for his convertible top control. It is priced very reasonably and installs in a few hours following Steve's excellent instructions. His kit can be purchased with a rear window controller enabling the rear windows to be put up with the hood (top) down. I imagine that would be very useful in your area.

not you too?! ;-). The “hood” covers the engine bay. Not the passenger compartment.
