"Hood Unlatched" message .... but its not!
I opened the hood the other day and now the Hood Unlatched message won't go away - is this something simple ...... sorry I forgot for a brief second that I'm talking about my Jag & not my wife's Lexus .... of source it's not simple.
I have a newly reconed ECM so doubt its that, could it be a sensor ... how does it detect hood latching?
Thanks for your help!

OK, so I should've searched for the problem first in the threads ..... when it says HOOD is means convertible top ..... it says BOOT when its the hood ..... solved my own problem ..... and I lived in England for 30 years ... duh!
Hehe. I did the same thing. I was going down the freeway doing 70 when it came on. At the time I thought...well at least the hood closes at the cowel and not the front, so it shouldn't fly up on me.
Then I realized it was the top. Got off freeway quick. Cycled the top. Haven't seen it since.
If the top gave way at 70????
Our cars are electronically limited to 155.
How does the thing even stay on locked going that fast?
120 is all I've had the stones to go...so far.
My buddies XKR'S top blew open in hurricane Ike.
I thought maybe he was full of it, but I looked at the picture again after I got mine and saw his rear windows were up.

Yep, I had the same issue when I moved from Houston to Auckland. Started off working at an Independent Jaguar Specialist. First job was to remove trim from underside of the hood, but this was on an XJ6 ( X300 ). So I started taking off the trim under the hood in my terms, luckily I didn't get far, because that was when I noticed they meant the headlinder, as it was sagging. Takes some getting used to with all the terminology.
As for your vehicle, just a heads up on the XK covertibles. That warning will also come up when the micro switch on the RH ram cylinder for the top fails, common issue.

The correct terms are:
Bonnet- Engine cover
Hood - Convertible top
Boot - Trunk
They also have a few other great ones wing-fenders, windscreen - windshield gotta love it.

As to terminology, I seem to remember that the owner manual for my 1969 MG Midget referred to the choke as a "strangler" and my 59 Austin Healey Sprite had a "Positive Earth"...
