I'm also in the market for a 07-09 XKR.

Just 1 thing that still bothers me:
Is there an issue with water getting through the hood vents during the rain? Do they just allow water to drain through the engine bay?

Are they just not supposed to be driven in the rain?

Seems like a potential issue, especially when you look at the water intrusion and electrical concerns on other Jag models.

Took a quick look at the EBay convertible I mentioned and it appears to check out. Unfortunately, distance is an issue with this one. Having been burned on my last SL by a luxury car dealer in Scottsdale, AZ I think I am going to pass. This looks like a good car but, after some more thought, there really is no better assessment than getting one's hands on a car.

Weather permitting, I'm going tomorrow to look at a triple black 08' XKR located in Orange County. If this one pans out I'll post up more info.

And once again, thanks to everyone for the info.

Rain doesn't hurt them in the least as far as the hood vents are concerned. The vents are actually exhaust at speed and any rain that gets in during a stop just runs through. My '07 seems to spend way too much time at speed in the wet. No issues and you appreciate the automatic wipers.

I will add the caveat that after sitting nose down outside during 2 days of rain I've gotten some condensation inside. It's sitting out in the sun today with the windows cracked to dry out. Hadn't had that problem in the past. Nothings wet inside, just steamed the glass this morning.

The right one will talk to you. Just be patient and listen for it.

If you have the money you can get the wrong one and still have it work out.

All Jaguars depreciate at a rapid rate. If you find the 07-09s cheaper now, within a few years all the XKs will be even closer in Value. My suggestion to you is to get the newest and best in performance (and reliability) Look for low mileage and as perfect as can be found. Yes, they are there. Be patient. Newer is always better as these cars are aging as we are speaking! Good luck and let us know how you make out.
