Default ongoing shock questions

I decided to replace the shocks on my 2008 XK, even though the car isn’t a ‘keeper’ I may need to live with it for another year.

The stock shocks are shot. The only way that I can enjoy any semblance of handling is to consistently drive in S mode. If in D on the highway whenever I come into a turn at some speed greater than posted the car leans and wallows quite a bit, very large american luxury car like.

Can anyone with knowledge @ XK vs XKR shocks chime in? Can I use XKR shocks and if so how much improvement in handling can I expect?

MY alternative is BC DS coilovers. I expect that I’d be satisfied with the oem XKR shocks if they are compatible with the XK.

I can’t lower the car or I’ll lose the front nose on many of the roadways I traverse.

Looking for input.

Jeremy, what you say?

Yes, you can use 2007-2009 XKR shocks on your 2008 XK. The ride will be firmer, but I can’t say how the handling changes, as I have XK shocks on my XK.

If going all shocks I'd definitely be thinking hard about going the BC racing coilovers....if I had my time again I'd either go the xkr-s (4.2l) set up of BC racing coilovers.

And yes shocks are interchangeable and slightly firmer the higher spec you go although if you want the suspension to firm up the xkr springs are a lot firmer / better handling
