pass airbag light

Hi,
You might try starting the car and then sit in the Passenger seat and put seat belt on.
This MiGHT wake up the computer! Just a thought; can't find any mention in Owners Manual of 'Pass Airbag Off'.
If nobody else knows better, let me know and I'll search my 'Alldata' XK account for you.
Good Luck
Adrian

This is just a guess, I have no idea if the XK has this "feature", but my current car (Mazda) will automatically shut off the passenger airbag if there is an object of a certain weight on the passenger seat. As I understand it, the idea is if a small child sits there the airbag will automatically turn off. My laptop bag can sometimes cause the light to come on and off randomly sometimes... I thought something was wrong at first but apparently thats how its supposed to work.
Just a guess... did you put a bag of groceries on the seat or something?

Yes, the seat detects if someone is sitting there, and if it is a small load (i.e. possibly a child in a child seat) it disables the air bags and the warning light comes on.

Those grocery bags WEREthe problem. The safety system detects use of the passenger seat by something other than an adult person, (my Technical Notes for the X350 saloon says "small occupant"), detects that the seat belt is not in use, then deactivates the air bag and puts the deactivation light on.
