Got a call last week from one of the dozen or so dealers I had been working with. This came in as a trade for an new F-Type. One owner CPO 6500 mile car. Got pictures last night that I requested prior to the car being transported. It's Italian Racing Red , 2012 XKR. I'll have more pictures when I get it home. Unfortunately the weather here for this week will be rain so my first drive will have to be with a light foot. This will be a new phase as with the Ferrari I never took it out in the rain. Times are changing. Thanks for all of the information on this site and for the member who looked at a car for me in Huston . To bad it was a smoker car but I think this is better. OK i'll post more as I put it in the garage. Thanks all.

Awesome, you spent a long time searching. The Italian Racing Red is a rare find. I suspect it is exactly that you had been seeking?

Did you decide to go enclosed trailer for shipping or open wheel?.....did you have to use a truck broker to find suitable transport?

The car was 5 hours away so I went with the dealers shipper. This is their contract shipper who delivers to other (swap) dealers so they are familiar with transporting Rovers and Jags. Being it is a short haul it is open carrier. I thought about closed but then all new cars are delivered open so what the hell. Out of all of the cars I had looked at and I mean more then a hundred I only came across 4 cars with non standard (2 blue , 2 Red) colors. Also using your posted info I think there were less then 20 RED XKR converts sold in the US in 2012. One of the big sellers is its a CPO and a 1 owner. Lets hope it's a good one.
I was almost ready to pull the trigger on the Black one in Fl. . Starting to get impatient but held out and this popped up. As i mentioned early I was looking for red , blue or green so I lucked out.

Looks sharp. I don't think I'd do a closed shipper again. Either way, the car ends up needed PDR tech to make perfect. As long as you don't have to deal the shipping broker, they are thieves.

Car looks sharp. The smoker's car you mentioned. Did it actually smell like smoke or have burns on it? I smoke cigars on occasion in my car and no one could ever tell there was a smoker inside.

I got 2 opinions. It was a Carnelian Red 2013 convert in Houston (on Autotrader). It had 2900 miles and was going for $77-78K. When I talked to the sales guy and I asked if it was a non-smoker car he said no and it had a faint smell of smoke. I asked if anyone could check this car out and someone on this group went to see it and take it for a ride. He reported it now smelled like chemicals now and notices a few other irregularities. I passed based on this info. Also you may not notice the smell as you are used to it but ask someone who doesn't smoke to smell the car. By the way I would have had a cigar or two at a golf outing but my bride and kids wouldn't let me smoke in the car or home. I stopped smoking 30 years ago and I don't mind the smell but It's the family that has the concern. Enjoy as life is short.

Congrats! That's a beautiful ride.

I would have passed on the smoker car as well. That smell has a way of sneaking back in to the car once the smell of the cleaners wear off. I never really noticed how bad it was until I quit myself years ago.

No one has detected it, but maybe I over stated how often I smoke in car...

Congratulations on your purchase and welcome to the club. They are so reliable compared to Ferrari's. Just drove my Jag to the top of Mount Haleakala 10,000 ft in 40 miles. Lot's of smooth twisty roads chasing twenty other exotic cars. Ran perfect and no brake fade. Wonderful! Enjoy!

Niiiice....

I do prefer the look of the 2012+ cars - sleeker than the first 5.0 shape, meaner eyes.

The horizontal air vents flow with the car better too.
