Default Planning ahead , battery size

Having a 3 1/2 year old Jaguar OEM battery in my 2012 , I'd like to get the number of the AGM replacement that others have used. I don't necessarily need to know the brand but what is the replacement size. Just want to have it written down so in case the present one starts to show signs of age. I would assume the dealer would recommend their flood type so I would like to have an alternate. As I understand it I would still need to get the dealer to reset the battery monitor module after a new battery is installed.

I replaced my battery, reset the windows and away I went. Zero problems with anything two years later.
What is this "battery monitor module" of which you speak?
:icon _question:

Also;
  • Length (In): 13-5/16 Inch
  • Width (In): 6-7/8 Inch
  • Height (In): 6-7/8 Inch

As I understand it on the 2010-2015 MY there is a voltage module on the neg. terminal of the battery. It's function is to control charging voltage and adjust the alternator output to maintain a fixed voltage and to reduce the drag by the alternator due to charging. I think the module requires resetting after a new battery is installed. I don't know if it is reset through SW or it is done at the module. If it is not functioning correctly you can either under or over charge the battery. That's the way I understand it so if others have more info , please contribute. This system is not on the 07-09 MY . Also this is why it is not recommended to hook the neg. lead of the battery smart charger directly to the neg. terminal.

Richard,
I know that you keep your cars on a CTEK battery maintainer and was wondering why you replaced the original battery. Was it no longer holding a charge? Any electrical gremlins? Or was it just because you thought that after 7 years it was time for a new battery? Did the CTEK live up to your expectations for extending the life of your OEM battery? (7 years is pretty good! )

Yes, it was because I thought that after 7 years it was time for a new battery.

I did not buy an AGM battery. I bought a regular battery from Walmart, made by Johnson Controls who also makes the Diehard, Duralast, Interstate, EverstartMax, Optima and many other leading branded batteries.

Group49/H8 $122.00 .....900 CCA, Vented, 3-year free replacement warranty.

I use a CTEK MUS 4.3 on 4 of my 5 vehicles. The CTEK is connected 100% of the time when the cars are parked in the garage.

Yes, the CTEK will make the batteries last much more than normal. The CTEK's are one of the best accessories I bought for the XKR and my other sports cars.

Wal Mart or Sam's Club appear to be the cheapest.......I've had good luck with Wal Mart
for years; except used Trojan's in my boat, 2 6v golf cart; lasted 13 years!!! Dealer said that was a record and gave a free hat but no discount!!

Yep, group 49. comes with vent.........

Cheers, Adrian

Refer to post #8 above and click the image to enlarge. This is the exact battery that went into the 2009 Jag XKR...a perfect fit. Group 49/H8 w/ vent on left side.

Interstate dealer wanted $195.00 for the same battery under the Interstate brand made by Johnson Controls, Inc.

Richard,
I wasn't referring to the battery. Read what I quoted again, in particular what lasted for so long.
What Adrian wrote wasn't exactly what he meant!
