Default Power Steering Rack / Transducer HELP!

Hi,
I have an XK 2006 convertible. Very notchy steering, so I had the power steering pump reconditioned. But it hasn't helped. So the next step is to either replace the transducer or the entire steering rack. Does anyone have any suggestions? Is this a common problem?
Thanks an advance,
Bill

imo it's not a common problem. I would check the steering column joints themselves for looseness or possibly corrosion - put it up on stands and see if you have the same issue. Also, while it's on stands, check the balljoints for play, then put hands on the tire at 12 and 6 o'clock and see if you can move the wheel laterally. Start there and let us know what you find.
