Default Problem with convertible top seal

Good afternoon y'all.

I purchased a 2008 Jaguar XK Convertible with 19k miles around a year ago. My first automatic in about 30 years.

In the last year I've put about 2k miles on as I'm retired and I get around on the motorcycle most of the time.

I've had the top down about a half dozen times.

Yesterday I noticed two light gaps in the top, in back where the top meets the chasis.

I opened the top halfway and it turned out the rubber seal that goes around the top,on the bottpm, in back from side to side ripped on both sides.

It tore about an inch from where it was anchored towards the front of the car near the pivot point.

The only explanation I can think of is that whoever secured the rubber seal pulled the seal too tight on both sides. That is why it tore on both sides at the same time.

My warranty was up four months ago.

I have a number of questions:
1- Is this an easy, at home fix or do I have to take the top off?
2- Does anyone know the part number or a site where I can find it?
3- Is this a design problem that Jaguar has addressed?
4- We have one Jag dealership here in San Antonio. Any ideas on how
to approach this if I can't fix this myself?

Thanks
Oldguy
ps. I would have posted a picture of the car but I don't know how to do that yet.
In fact I'm not quite sure how I got to this part of the website

Good evening.

I may have had the same issue on my driver's side (if I'm understanding your description) as well. Here's photos of my tear:

If that's what you have, you need to replace the main weatherstrip, which you can see here, navigate to your model/year, then find the part under convertible parts:

JaguarParts.com :: Original parts for your Jaguar

My year was about $125 per the website.

Removal involves drilling out rivets holding the top, then redoing the rivets, so if that scares you off, check w/your dealer or shop. Here's the procedure per the tech manual:

Hopefully the links work, just started posting here recently and haven't figured it all out.

Good luck.

Sorry for bringing up this old topic again, bit I did not find a newer and my recently purchased XK convertible has the described problem: the weatherstrip around and under the back of the top is broken and in two pieces. Now there is a gap an both sides under the top at the side and causes loud wind- and road noise (plus a little rain also coming in).

Unfortunately the old link/pictures do not work anymore. Here is the situation of my car:

Is C2P16667 the correct number for a new strip?
https://parts.jaguarcary.com/oem-par...strip-c2p16667

And where are those mentioned rivets ("holding the top")? Does the complete top needs to be removed to install a new weatherstrip - hopefully not?

Thx in andvance from Cologne! Bernd.

Just a quick answer in case someone will have the same problem with the split weatherstrip of the roof. The according to Jaguar "convertible top rear panel lower weather strip" was available and has indeed part number C2P16667. Price here in Germany a little under 200Euros.
Change is described in the manual available in te stickies. The only chalenge is to drill out 3 rivets and install them again with the new relatively tight rubber weatherstrip. The rest is self explanatory and the weatherstrip is - besides the metal holder with the 3 rivets - fixed under the roof with a metal "carrier" with some 20 T20 torx bolts. Took my mechanic about 1,5 hours without hurry.

And ready again:
