........

i also bought the “made in Italy” buy in China caps in the “R” logo and black growler. Just as you say, they were 2mm to long on the tabs. I had to use some tape to help them hold tight. Then I went to the dealer and bought the gray Union Jack caps which match the wheels lovely.

Yep, cheap ones open up nice with a little heat. I'm honestly surprised mine haven't flow the coop. My retro '60's vintage grill emblem has faded horribly but the junk wheel centers keep spinning around.

Hi all you can get Red Jag originals from this site in the UK for under $50 us plus shipping. (£30 a set )

not sure if they will ship to The US but maybe worth contacting

https://m.growlerparts.com/XK8---XK.html

It looks like a small site so they won’t have loads.

I have just replaced my centres with Jag originals for £38 a set . I got them from a Jag main dealer advertising on EBay.UK

I bought the red ebay cheapies (https://i.imgur.com/TNtQp9a.jpg) about 2 years ago. They looked great but were a tiny bit pinkish. The fit sucked. I put a rubber band around it and they fit great. I never lost one in the 18mos I had them on but the color faded to almost white. I spend ~$80 for OEM ones from a dealership that was far from me but was having a sale. They fit perfectly and look the same as the day I bought them. I highly recommend just getting OEM on these parts.

I believe there are a number of different sizes - order the correct ones for your wheels and they fit tightly.

The base design of these aluminium ones is rather cheap and even the original ones deteriorate. My Ebay ones look the same as the originals but without the corrosion however, my car is too little used.

The moulded style from the 1990s is a lot more substantial. I have a set on my S-Type from Oct. 2000 and they are still like new.

This is true but we're at the mercy of the eBay seller. Mine said they fit my car. Same seller both times. Second set 2 years later don't fit. We get what we pay for!!
