Rattle Clunk front end Dealer Response
Rattle and clunk from front end over bumps.
Dealer installs "shim kit" as per bulletin. Issue mininalized but not resolved. Now diagnosis is now that its the calipers??
PS Also intermitent low brake pad warning light??
Any thoughts/opinions?? XKR still at dealer. My confidence in the dealer is quite low. DIAGNOSTIC ABILTIES SEEM SO INADEQUATE.

Some clunks-rattles-things that go bump in the night are easy to trace and repair. Others...not so much. Noise travels thru a car in such strange ways. Electronic ears were often useful..and sometimes not.
From my dealership days I can remember going as far as removing bumpers, fenders, dashboards, subframes, and even windshields, and other extensive measures, to track down odd noises.
The next car in with a funny noise might be fixed in 15 minutes
A couple years ago I was fed up with several odd noises on my XJR and spent....and I'm quite serious here...over 50 hours labor tracking them down.
If the dealer is giving your car the sunshine treatment then get on 'em to keep their shoulder to the wheel. Otherwise, be as patient as possible
Do keep abreast of what they are doing. Dependant on how bad the noise is, and your tolerance for it, you might wanna "opt out" of any overly invasive efforts to repair it. I always informed customers ahead of time and let them know if we exhausted the easy possibilities and were about to begin disassembling half the car. Many preferred to leave well enough alone, and with good reason.
Cheers and good luck

I was getting rattles from the front of my XK as I went over humps and bumps at slow speed. Looking at other posts in the forum I initially thought it was the bonnet / hood rattling.
The XK was going into the dealer anyway and i mentioned the noise and asked them to adjust the bonnet / hood fixing.
Dealer looked at it and diagnosed as suspension rattle, going back in on Monday for fuller investigation and possible replacement.
Will update after Monday.
