Could happen.

While I have not been locked out, there have been multiple times when I tried to start the car with the fob in my pocket, and I get the "key not found" error. So something is up with the sensors inside the vehicle.

I just re-discovered the key blank that I got a while back from my own exhaustive research and expense (or maybe Clevername gave it to me ) and I haven't had it cut yet. Maybe I should get on that.

You'll need to look around.... Any locksmith can, but they quoted me something like $25 per key.
I was walking through my local hardware store and they had just gotten the equipment to do these types at $5 each... Just look around for those key cutting booths.....
