Being I had to remove my rear flat tire today I was looking at the read brake pads and wondering what the thickness of new ones were. Does anyone know as mine looked about half worn. I have a little over 11K miles on them so what is considered normal wear.

 

The rear pads on the XK are 8mm thick when new; my dealer replaced mine when they were down to 3mm at 43,688 kilometers (that is 27,305 miles). The part number for the rear brake pad set is C2C 27271 and the cost of the pads was $110. The discs are part number C2C 25339. I hope this is what you want to know.

 

The traction control uses the rear brakes heavily during spirited driving. I'm not surprised at the wear you're experiencing.
