Hey Guys, am back with an update.....had to stop working on this project as I had a "two trees fell on my house" project. LOL! It seems two trees got in the way of tropical storm Isasis (spelling) that ripped up the Atlantic coast last week end and the winds took them down.Fortunately, only property damage. Therefore, been dealing with that.
Anyway, have been covering the various panels and running across a few hiccups, but, none insurmountable. Had to get the Singer machine out and bind the two little carpets that line the storage areas. Beneath them will be a sound deadener. Of course, after I first, re-taught myself how to use it. LOL. Had to get a heavier needles as I broke two in the process. It's coming together, but, the details are aplenty......
RedRider48,
It's coming along great, looks fantastic. You guys have to deal with things like tropical storms and hurricanes. I have a friend in Connecticut that is still without power. Over here on the left coast we only have to deal with earthquakes, of which we had three very strong jolts last week with the epicenter less than five minutes from my house, threw us out of bed at 4 am about a week ago.
Remember that our back seats have one single purpose. When buying the car, you can tell the missus: "No no, it's not an impractical sportscar, it's a fun family car with room for the kids in the back."
If you remove the back seats you may never be able to sell it

Ok, If the truth be told.....we do have two kids and they are small enough to ride in the back seat. However, the seat belts don't work for them. Therefore, this "Back Seat Delete" project is custom designed for them and will incorporate a special seat belt system made for their diminutive dimensions.
As to reversal and selling, the whole system can be removed and replaced with the original interior in approx. 30 minutes. At no time in this project were there any additional holes or disfigurations of any type made to the existing interior.
More films to follow........
My mod will be abunch less complicated. Speaking, of which, have attached a few updates.......
Looks great, Ken. Just curious: did you put pads on the bottom of the frame to keep it from "rattling" whilst driving? That's one of the things that drives me NUTS is something rattling in the car, perhaps a leftover from my childhood when we had to ride to the lake with styrofoam coolers. That squeaking sound ... AAARGH!

Thanks for your kind comment. The rear of the frame is attached to "L" brackets that utilize the two existing lower seat-back attachment points. This is a very solid attachment, The front of the frame, has 4 very short legs with a 3/4" X 1" flat pad. These four "pads" rest on top of the existing carpet (two on each side of the console) that rolled under the seats. Thus no rattle emminating at this point.
If your look carefully at the center of the rear frame, you can just get a glimpse of the "L" bracket. The design and building of the frame was the biggest challenge as it had to attach using any existing holes, the welding of the frame was pretty easy, actually. The front rail is approx. 41" it tapers to approx. 38" (rear rail) The front to rear dimension is 15". As you can see, the hump is sectioned off on it's own. The length of the 4 front "legs" was determined by what it take to level the frame front to rear. I used lots of cardboard to mock up the pieces.

Hey all,
The past couple days have been putting the finish touches on this "Rear seat Delete" project. Have only a couple **** type adjustments remaining. Overall, glad I did it and proud of the outcome.
May not be everyone's "cup 'o 'tea", but, as I stated in one earlier post, if I get tired of it, easily reversible.
Been trying to figure out what the straps are for.... securing rowdy passengers?
Maybe you’re a bounty hunter?
Ha, ha, ha, like your comment. Yes we do have "rowdy" passengers, at times. They are two Yorkshire Terriers (Yorkie) who are brothers from birth. We rescued them over a year ago. Those are their safety harnesses. Niko Herc (Hercules)
Meet Hercules and Niko......
