Default Remote Key for XKR

Has anyone purchased the used remote key fobs available on ebay? Will the dealer reprogram them? My dealer wants $300 plus for a new key fob, plus $90 to reprogram it.

Be very careful with Smart Keys and eBay. Smart Keys are difficult to program and tricky. Unlike remotes of the past, a Smart Key MUST be de-programmed or erased from a car properly or it is rendered scrap, and cannot be properly programmed to ANY car. I think your options are your friendly dealer or a VERY COMPETENT locksmith. There are also single channel and multi-channel versions that are NOT compatible.

Edit: Full disclosure.......I am your friendly dealer.

Good luck!

Does anyone know a reliable source besides the local dealer ? The dealer price does seem a bit steep.
