Default Removal of Lower Door Panel

Hi All, I hope someone can help me with this. I have a 2011 XKR with black interior and I have been fortunate enough to secure an almost new Caramel interior. Here is my dillema. The door panels I have are solid black and the new door panels are solid caramel. I am trying to determine how to seperate the lower section of the door panel, so I can create the two tone look as pictured.

Any help would be appreciated and thanks in advance!

Cheers

Phil

Door trim panel removal instructions are in this thread:

I like your idea, but suspect that you might have to do some surgery to achieve your desired results. It'll be worth the effort. My XKR interior, Ivory and Slate with Rich Oak veneer, backup cam in ashtray, custom footrest, and other mods:

Like most other door panels, I'd figure it'd be pre-sewn leather stretched over a backer board. I did something like this on my old Mustang, but I had to rip seams and resew stuff, and then restaple all the stuff back onto the (new in my case) board.

Ive has them apart a few times. The section which you are freeing to is heat riveted together. You’ll have to cut the rivets and reassemble with screws and washers.

Thank you Stuart, Your look is what I am trying to recreate and it does appear to be major surgery on the door panel.

Thanks for this! So am I to understand that all the black heat rivets need to be cut off and then that piece will be removable? By chance do you have any pics of what you have done?

Mant Thanks,

Phil
