Default Replace brake splash shield on XKR?

My left front brake splash shield was badly mangled by a shop a few years ago while trying to trace down a brake rattling issue. That has since been resolved, but I'd like to replace the splash shield--I didn't realize the part was relatively inexpensive.

Anybody have any idea how involved the replacement is? Is it just a couple bolts, that's it?

3 rivets actually. Pull the rotor and replace.

I can't tell from the diagram but it appears you can leave everything in place and drill out the rivets from the inside facing outward and simply slide the dust shield out, slide a new one in place and re-rivet. Just looking at the diagram though. I didn't physically check my car.

The brake caliper and disc must be removed so the rivets can be drilled out. Rivet heads are behind the disc.

Once you've removed the rivets, you can install the new dust shield using bolts, nuts and locking washers if you prefer not having rivets.

Bollocks. I was afraid I would have to pay for essentially a brake job to reinstall this piece.

Thanks everyone.

Nah. Pulling the caliper and rotor is probably 15 minutes including getting her on a lift. I suspect the job is an hour labor but you can always wait until your next brake job too.

It's certainly way beyond my concept of "relatively inexpensive" at 197 UKP here and 363 USD from Jaguar.

Apologies for resurrecting an old thread but I have a question you may be able to answer please.

Whist looking around the car, a 2010 XK Portfolio, 5.0 n/a, chassis no. B37556, I was surprised to see no brake disc shields fitted to the front brakes. The car is relatively low mileage with a ear full dealer history.

Is this normal or should shields be fitted? If so does anyone know the part no. or if XF ones will fit? New ones I fear will be very expensive!

Regards Chris

Breaker's yard! No sense to get new ones for a used car.
