retrofit viper autostart/alarm to 2008 XKR
I really want to add an autostart feature to my car
Has anyone done this?
What bypass unit did you use?
Any advice?
The system I am trying to have installed is a Viper 5906v - which is an alarm and autostart system

MY advice "don't do it!" drove an F Type the other day; worst feature on the car IMHO!
Made me very anxious at each stop light! Having had 13 Jags I sometimes worry about starting first time; even my 2007 XK !
Being 80 I do worry more about starting, anything!!! Just installed a new Kitchen Faucet only took a day! it said 45 mind on box; they lied...............
Good luck, Adrian
Cheers, Adrian

Adrian's referring to the stop-start system used on many modern cars to reduce fuel consumption. What you have is a remote-start system.
I suspect it would be impossible to fit to the XKR, unless you were prepared to keep a key fob permanently docked in the car. The security system has a conversation with the fob and verifies that it's valid before the car will start. Even then, I'd guess you'd have to somehow wire the Viper into the Start switch.
