Default Rev Limiter 2011 5.0 N/A??

Getting some exhaust work done this week so, yesterday I thought I'd take a video, recording the current stock sound to compare. Planned on recording a few revs in Park, a drive away and a drive by. But, when I attempted to rev in Park, it fell flat on it's face at about 4,000 rpm. Never tried to rev like this before so I was a bit surprised. I had been driving pretty hard in Dynamic mode with the trans set in Sport mode all day and it ran great! Also ran great (still driving hard in Dynamic/Sport) all the way home. Any ideas?

Cheers

I think the park rev limit is pretty normal - my ford truck does the same.

Yes, it is limited to prevent engine damage…this limiting is common in most cars.

I don't mean to be "that guy", but why the HELL would a sane person try to rev an engine excessively with no load??? You're asking to have the pistons change holes. I will go ahead and assume this was also done WITHOUT the engine at operating temperature, which makes it even MORE looney.
Don't TRY to destroy your car!!!!!!!!!!!!

That seems a reasonable answer I guess.

Please, people, do not do what was stated in this thread. It isn't good to rev an engine with no load. That is especially true if it isn't in its operating temperature range.

Thank you for an explanation in a non-condescending manner.

(BTW CJ, at least the car was at operating temperature.)
