Hi and Apologies if this has been mentioned before. My 2006 Uk spec has no reversing light and after a little online searching it appears its an LED assembly that needs to be replaced as a unit. Is this the case or has some clever member found a way of repairing it?

Just to clarify, you don’t have a ‘reversing light’ on the passenger side of your car?
(As there would not be one on the driver’s side, only the rear fog light on that side. A fog light on the driver’s side and a reversing light on the passenger side is the normal setup for your car.)

 

Hi ,Yes I am aware there is only one reversing light on my model and the right hand assembly (Uk driver side) is a fog light. Looking at the internet it appears the whole unit needs to be replaced at about £200... Gosh!

 

Ouch. Keep an eye on the UK eBay, maybe a used one will show up at a better price.

 

I just put in LEDs in the reverse light and the fog light. But for some reason they just blink whenever I engage them. Still working it out...

 

Your lights are blinking due to FET transistor overload. See this thread where George Kale figured it out for the 5.0L to 4.2L tail light swap:

In post #51 he has a PDF file that has the parts he used for the conversion. I suspect that you will also need to add the relays to get the backup and fog lights to work in your case.
