I took apart my roof console to fix one of the garage opener buttons and I noticed an extra internal button with no external access. I figure it was for some other model/make, but I was just wondering if anyone had a clue.
Okay, finally found out the answer.
Seems some cars come with front AND rear parking assist sensors, in which case there is a button to silence them. If you only have rear parking assist, no button.

I use mine all the time as the beeping gets on me nerves.
So that's what that button is for! Going to have to start using that.
I try to ignore the parking assist as much as possible, but I have two pet peeves with it:
Backing up mutes the sound system until the car decides you're going forward fast enough, which is usually out past the end of my driveway or out of the parking lot.
Both the reverse and forward parking assist only come on after the car has been placed in reverse, which makes leaves the forward parking assist off and useless when puling into a space.
Full admission: I've not taken the time to read if either of these two functions are configurable in the settings. The annoyance level is just too low. Kind of the same with the clock -- I never reset it during the time changes.
@thebeeg I'd be interested in seeing your solution for the broken button. I know there are a couple others in the forum, but am curious to see if there are new ways of doing things.

In situations where I need front assist I just throw it into reverse and back into drive.

That switch is a toggle. Press it to turn off the system when not desired while backing.... press it when slowed or stopped to turn it back on in any gear.

Ya, that works too.
