looking to get a scan tool and programmer in one but I have no idea which one is reliable or just actually works. Anyone have any suggestions or recommendations? I've been looking at this one. But I have no clue if it's legit.
Almost $400 for a module, two cables and a carrying case? That's crazy.

No SDD software, merely the DA drivers. Yours doesn't seem to list any software either, although it references V1.49 of 'something'. Course if it's V1.49 of SDD included for that price, it may not be a bad deal.
Cee jay, does your scan tool allow for programming keys and modules? If you read the description of the JLR 2 it claims to let you go into engineering mode and program keys and modules. But like I said, I don’t know if these claims are legit.

Mine does whatever the version of SDD can do, and I have a slightly 'tweaked' version that I haven't fully delved into yet. I can reprogram modules, install a Park Assist Camera (Jag dealers can't even do that), turn features On/Off....... don't know specifically what "Engineering Mode" involves, but some is possible.
Of course what I said, I had to procure working SDD software from a different source.

That rather depends on your concept of "legit".
If you mean do JLR source their diagnostic tools from an ebay seller in Shenzen, you can be absolutely confident they do not. If, on the other hand, you mean will it do everything the dealer level diagostics does then you could be lucky.
I would scan for error codes with a knock-off interface cable and software of unknown provenance but I certainly wouldn't even consider programming modules with it.

Some, but not all. Some are still grayed out options, but many (most?) CCF items are modifiable.
As I said, my SDD has more options than the SDD at my Jaguar dealer, who was completely unable to activate the rear camera. That was my main reason for getting my own Hardware/Software, and my Rear Camera works great.
