Default SDD engineering mode without access code

Was looking in Youtube for SDD user vids - I've not used the SDD much and never tried engineering mode - vid starts part way through where
it looks like key fob programming is available. Also a brake bleed function.

I’ve seen this before. If I recall Cambo warned against it. Said it was unreliable and could cause problems. Don’t recall the details though as it’s been years since I bought SDD. Also Jack John Mentioned the same thing in another thread but instead of entering a vin just enter all letters. He used rrrrrr and said it worked. Sorry no more details than that. Let us know if you try it.

Works quite well for me.
SDD still requires a reliable VID (Mongoose Pro) and power supply sufficient to maintain a green battery icon in the upper right corner.

I'm not sure why you would you would even consider this method when opening engineering mode within SDD is relatively easy. Given Cambos reservations about using software download.htm why would you risk it? See this forum post for engineering mode access engineering access tool
BTW key fob programming is available in SDD without engineering access - search the forum (not just X150) for key programming

Softwaredownload.html is still the easiest way to do CCF edits. (sshhh! Don't tell anyone!)

I've only just come across this as I need to reprogram my instrument cluster because I screwed up when changing the engine in my XF diesel. Unpliugged the PCM and left it in situ for MONTHS where the rain got to it.
I'm going to try it tomorrow........
