I’m planning to install Cambo’s Carplay system in my ‘09 XK. I need to have the auxiliary audio input activated. I’ve called 3 dealers in the area and I must be speaking a different language...they either don’t know what SDD is or tell me it’s not possible. The independent shops I’ve called don’t have SDD, they all use something called Autologic. I’m in suburban Philadelphia, PA. If you can help me with this by directing me to a shop with SDD or if anyone has it, I would be grateful for your help...

 

Following this thread being that I am in suburban Philadelphia too and would love to know of a good Jaguar Indy/specialist if ever needed.

 

The local guys I talked to had no clue either. You can just buy a SDD system off ebay ready to go for $500 or so. When they had to idea what I was talking about and wanted to charge $250 anyway I figured I'd just buy the whole thing itself.

 

From what I read, Autologic can do what SDD does. So if someone has it and can turn on your Aux input....

You're welcome. You can take a snapshot from post 14 of the CarPlay thread and it shows how Aux Input is turned on in SDD, which may or may not help the mechanic to find it with Autologic.

 

I just watched an Autologic video using the Land Rover interface, and it still looks fairly basic. I don't know if the CCF would be able to be modified.

It seems pretty comprehensive, I’ll report back after trying it on Monday...

 

This would indicate it can change CCF files:

• Control module programming - with complete flash programming capability, Autologic also allows the restoration of configuration data, restoring a corrupt vehicle to the specification it left the factory
• Car Configuration File (CCF) data - Autologic provides a greater freedom to allow customers to personalise vehicles

I have never used AutoLogic, but I know a workshop that has it, unfortunately they are 1400kms away from me.
From previous discussions with them regarding Land Rovers, I know that the CCF provide by AutoLogic is not going to be "complete" they did not give access to everything.
I did already ask him about the AUX input in an X150, albeit for a 2010, as those can't be done with a standard SDD. But the field in the CCF is exactly the same for all X150's.
It seems that either AutoLogic changed the name of the field, or they have it completely wrong, or they left it out. I can't tell from here.

In SDD the required field is called 'Audio auxiliary input' and you are changing it from 'Not Fitted' to 'Fitted'.

In AutoLogic the only option displayed in the CCF close to this is “auxiliary audio input (inc. mobile phone)”, the two options are “no media accessory usb” “or media accessory usb”.

So either they changed the name, or they have it wrong. Only one way to find out...

Also within a complete CCF there are two fields relating to AUX Audio input, only one of them applies to an X150, the other does nothing in this car...

 

But....

You need to actually show the Jaguar dealer the screenshot from SDD for the AUX activation, trying to explain this over the phone will get you nowhere in my experience.

 

It’s always an adventure. I did speak to an Indy shop called Jaguar Specialties that’s 60 miles from me. He has SDD and knows what I need. Unfortunately, he’s all booked up for 3 weeks. The local JLR dealer called me back to say that they would try, but we’ve had severe thunderstorms and his SDD got a power surge so it isn’t working...

 

You are so right...they are clueless...one guy told me that my ‘09 XK might as well be 100 years old...they don’t want to work on them...

 

It would quite literally take no more than 15 minutes to boot up SDD and run the service function, CCF takes a little longer, shame the indy workshop can't help you straightaway considering this.

The instructions apply to the 4.2L engine not the 5.0 L engine. I am told by a Jaguar Dealer shop foreman that it is impossible to create am aux input on the 5.0 L cars. See below:

"That link is talking about enabling aux audio using SDD. That’s only available on SDD on 2007-9 XK. That option is not available on your 2013 XK because 2013 came with a USB and iPod port installed as standard equipment and its permanently enabled in the car’s CCF file. 2007-9 XK didn’t have USBs as standard equipment so Jaguar made an accessory kit to install one and created the software on SDD to enable it by modifying the CCF file. The option to enable aux audio isn’t available for a 2013 unfortunately."

I'm hoping somebody will be able to help me/us prove him wrong.

 

I have turned on the AUX input in at least half a dozen 2010-onward X150's now... using SDD.

It is very possible, but not for a Jaguar dealer, because they are locked out from CCF editing in their SDD.

 

If anyone needs the AUX enabled, I can rent my laptop and Mongoose cable to you guys in the continent of USA and will help you enable it under my supervision.
