I just installed the file over my original installation (I'm using WIndow7 on a virtual box machine on my windows 10 laptop). Program loaded asked for ID
credentials (off line- .network off) that was given me - the program then asked for VIN as I'm not connected to the vehicle. It looks like the program works ok.

Are you able to install the program? Do you get the blue screen trying to load after install or at the start of the install - could be the win 7 version you have
is really old?

I am installing it on an old machine that had Windows 7 on it,

It seems to install ok, but then when the machine restarts at the end it comes back up then goes blue screen.

there's an exhaustive thread link below related to SDD and not specific to XK which is where GGG steered folks the first time. You'd get more help there I think.

According to the JLR instruction manual 1 GB of memory is required - usually the blue screen gives some diagnostic info - write it down
and use google to search for info.

From the 2012 JLR manual:

In the time since IDS was first introduced, PC specifications have advanced, so the software has been enhanced to take advantage of the hardware capabilities. At the time of printing, the current minimum specification is as follows: • 1.06 GHz Dual Core Processor • 1GB Ram • 160GB Hard Drive

305 GB harde drive, 4 gb ram, 2.1 GHz

It is 64 bit, is that an issue? How do I change it to 32 if so?

I'm not sure if the JLR software is 64 or 32 bit - usually 32 bit software
will run on a 64 bit computer. Is the Win 7 professional or home edition?

Well, I have been trying to download software for several weeks now. I have had some great help from McJag222, I have bought a new copy of Windows 7, a copy of a software to unzip rar files, updated Adobe, and spent countless hours trying to get various versions of SDD onto my computer. All unsuccessful. Then I was reading that I need to have a special power source to keep my car powered while using the software. The price for that is $450, if you can find it. Then I am reading about how difficult the software is to use. I am about ready to give up. However, I have a new DA dongle that cost $350 that is essentially useless to me now. I guess I can return it.

Any last words of wisdom before I throw in the towel?

All I want to do is reprogram my seats and my TPMS system.

Default Don't waste time with sdd

For the two things you mentioned, get yourself an Autel Ap200 with the jlr software. It'll give you the service functions that you want.

also, TPMS doesn't need reprogramming for the sensors in the wheels. The sensors should reprogram the controller after about a half hour of driving.

Yeah, no.
$150 at Harbor Freight, and you can use it for damn near every "battery" project or charging requirement. OR, spend the extra $60 and get a Schumacher brand, same thing.

Perfectly wonderful and great Power Supply for using SDD on a Jaguar, via HFT.

I use a $50 Stanley charger also from harbor freight I believe and it works fine when using SDD

Also, below is a screen cap of the service function of the Autel AT200. You can see the seat recalibration there. TPMS is also on the next screen up. I've almost stopped using my SDD 150 in favor of this tool. Remember, some of the service routines work only on the 5.0 series (injector calibration, for example), some work on all. Yes, there's stuff on SDD that's still useful, but this gets the most common items. Cheap at $70 -- works with IoS and Droid.

I changed out the TPMS controller, so I believe the car has to be told about the new controller.

Ordered the AP200, thanks!

no - you'd need an SDD pack in engineering mode to do that.

Thx Ed! I recall they were able to use Autologic to enable Aux and it seemed to be able to handle the CCF file. Still a lot of $ for a DIY tool so finding an Indy would be a way to go.
