If car was in Florida all it's life, rust shouldn't be a big problem. Except maybe from sea salt. Mileage if correct is not high for a 7+ year old vehicle. Drive it, make sure everything works as it should, no check engine lights on. get a Carfax if you can.

These cars can handle the mileage, but remember there are many low mileage examples out there of the convertibles, which often are lightly driven.

Looks for the following problem areas:
-Rear window detaching from fabric top
-Top of leather dashboard delaminating
-Water in the passenger footwell from clogged A/C drain

In addition to wear items like tires and brakes that may need to be attended to, plan on a new battery and a preventative replacement of the plastic thermostat housing and pipe. A test drive will tell you whether the suspension needs any attention.

For these cars, there are many low mileage examples available. Higher mileages should result in very attractive sales prices.

If you can get that great deal on the car do invest in a thorough mechanical check as the repairs on them tend to be rather expensive. I have had 5 late model Jags in the row with absolutely minimum issues. But, all of them had low mileages.

Lukeeeee, i have a 2007 xkr and love it. Had the old xk8 for 6 years then traded for the xkr. Have it nearly a year now and apart from small minor issues ,i wouldn't part with it, if it is a good deal and mechanically sound, you'll love it.
Just a few pics of mine,
I have a post up called,
Some Exhaust noises you might like, if you would like to view, my car can be seen in the videos, nice noise.

$2-2.5K will take care of all preventive services that care may need and should be considered on the onset of your purchase. Engine will go for as long as you want to own it. I've seen them with 200K and no rebuild.
