Roughly 3 years ago I purchased a 2014 XKR. It now has 80,000 kilometres and the extended JLR warranty is over. The car has been great did replace super charger coupler, pads and rotors.
What are opinions on values as at today ? Here in Canada I’m not too sure if market is strong, curious to learn more then what I have seen online. I looked at bring a trailer, and various car sites to see current inventory.
Pretty car. I can't speak for Canada but here in the US they are still commanding a premium. I saw an 07XK N/A go for $21k recently and it had almost 70k on the odometer. Nothing special about it as far as I could tell. I could see that for an XKR maybe but an N/A? That was crazy. Made me think about selling mine but I'd prolly only trade my car for another at this point.
Dont have a finger on the Canadian market....but I would hold till May then list. And make sure you put it up for sale south of the border. Clean XKR's arent exactly growing on trees. Lastly, include lots of undercarriage pics.
Thanks CJ with the premium on the US dollar that is a generous offer.
my motivation has come with a new car order. I have a 2022 m4 competition ordered. I am trying to decide whether I will trade or sell privately, or if my imputed value is not met I will keep it. I am excited about new car but the XKR is so beautiful.
I am also in Toronto and sold a 07 XK Convertible (was my mom's car) back in the late summer for $20K (CAD), it was a really nice low km (70K) car with full service history. It sold pretty quickly, but I didn't exactly have a flood of interest. I've seen a few XKR coupes, older that yours, but both 4.2s and the later 5.0s advertised in the mid-high 20's, and then some in the $30K+ range. The ones on the higher end of the range do tend to sit on the market for a long time which gives me the impression that the local Toronto market is a tough one for the higher $ examples - as yours would be. I see you've got winter tires on it, presumably that means it's seen some winter use, while not something I'd personally be concerned about, a lot of buyers will be.
While late model Jag's are not my typical thing (other than my own XKR) I have sold a number of other cars from my fleet over the years, including some e-types and other old British cars, to the US and into Europe. Definitely stronger markets, and with a classic it's super easy for folks to import from Canada to the US. Anything newer than 25 years there are more hoops to jump through for US buyers and that tends to keep interest down unless you've got something really special.....I couple years ago I had a 97 Camaro SS LT4 (very rare and desirable/collectible Camaro) that I sold to the US and dealt with a number of potential buyers who were just put off by the import process so decided to pass.
I'd say get it properly detailed, swap over to summer tires, and list it in the spring for whatever you'd be comfortable getting for it. Then be prepared to keep it if you don't get you number.
Can you PM me what you're thinking price wise? I do have a buddy who recently sold his MG and was thinking about a modern Jag as a new hobby car, something like this would be ideal for him.
I'm in Halifax and my 2014 XKR, W/ Dynamic Pack, Black Pack, Performance Pack, and Performance Exhaust with 30,000 kms is worth about $62,000. IMO one that is maintained properly will command a premium. A 2014 should have a recent brake fluid flush, coolant fush, transmission fluid exchange, supercharger fluid change, and ediff fluid change. A recent brake job and good quality tires also add to the value. An astute Jaguar buyer would look for good maintenance.
Since the pandemic they have increased about 20 to 30%. Check autotrader.ca for listings. Good luck with your new ride and your XKR.
Thanks. I have done all fluids … Jaguar did all work on supercharger coupler and lines. Car has been well cared for. Brand new winters and summer tires are a season old. Pads and rotors done in the last 6mts. You have a super low km car which is nice. BMW just puts it up for auction pre delivery so I know that won’t be a great route for optimizing sale price.
As my car is rapidly approacing 200,000 miles (I would expect next month sometime), I have recently started curiously looking at some 5.0L XKR listings on auctions and the like. Prior to the pandemic, it was typical to find 2010-2011 coupes with reasonable mileage in the low to mid $20Ks. Not now! They are not solidly in the $30s if not more.
I'll up the ante, I'll give you $15,000.
My educated guess is that in Germany in should fetch approximately (or close to) 50,000 Euro these days, assuming no hidden issues or neglected maintenance. If it was a local (German, Swiss or Austrian, maybe Dutch) first registration. Otherwise maybe minus 10k, current market conditions. Good XKRs are scarce.
