Default Shabby looking keyfobs

On the long list of things I want to sort on my 07 XKR is the keyfobs. Both are looking decidedly foxed, possibly even badgered. Can I purchase new outer cases and transfer the innards? Or do I need new Jag units and re-programming?

Tia

You can purchase the outside cases. They are separate from the boards which contain the programming. Just look around on Amazon or equivalent for options that have higher ratings. They are easy to swap out.

Other than price, is there a noticeable difference between genuine OEM Jaguar and Chinese copies of the SmartKey outer shell? Yes.

The rear of the OEM Jaguar case is embossed with the Jaguar Leaper logo, copies are blank with no logo.

OEM JAGUAR SMARTKEY

Another option is to get a couple of silicon outer cases that slip over the fob cases
They look good and protect the fobs
They look original as well
Ebay for a few dollars each
I changed my outer cases and then got the silicon covers as well

Just bought an OEM cover set even came with new battery. About $50us. Has the emblem on the back and came in Jag printed bags. Rear case in one bag and front rubber button pad and battery in the other.

From a Jag dealer? Do you have the part number?

My silicone Smartkey protector. It slips on over the OEM fob.

The genuine ones are quite inexpensive from the main dealer, less than $20 as I recall for all the pieces needed.

front C2P15135
chrome caps C2P15136

back C2P17158

Thanks for all the input, I'm in Spain and have already fallen out with the local ******* in Barcelona over an unnecessary air-con condenser replacement. The big ebay shop linked by jagxk4me looked interesting but he seems to ship to the entire world, excluding Europe. I've gone with cheapo parts from Amazon. If they are compatible I'll use the back pieces off my originals, if not I'll have to put up with a plain, no logo part.

I found a nice leather fob case on amazon. The biggest challenge is you have to take it apart pretty far to get to the emergency key, but that should be a rare occurrence.

Speaking of the key…. I went into the parts department yesterday to pick up the seat release lever I ordered. And not only did they give me my routine caffe macchiato…. but the spare key I ordered in… 2020. Needless to say, no charge.

Cheers to all!
