Shelby Daytonas "continuation" series
Saw this yesterday and was surprised that it has the blessing of Shelby. And built right here in our "backyard" in Irvine. I may have to take a ride down and see the factory. I wonder if the VIN numbers and registration will reflect 1964 or new?

They worked out a deal to be the "official" replica maker. The others had to change. FFR's "cobra" is now their "roadster".
Their Daytona is now the Type 65 Coupe, etc. They made new molds during Shelby's lawsuit's threat to look less like the originals. I'd rather drive their sleek looking tribute to an outright replica.

There would be a huge price difference of a Tribute Cobra at $200,000 vs a top notch Cobra Replica @ $35,000 to $50,000.
Not sure that any Tribute car will hold the value. There will be more Tribute Cobra's produced than limited edition Jaguar's (case in point my 2009 XKR Portfolio Edition Convertible, only 200 produced).
Without Carrol Shelby, they are still only replica's of sorts and they won't constructed by Shelby American in Las Vegas.
All in all, it's still a replica of the original.
I don't see many people spending $200,000 when they get a beautiful AC Cobra for under $45,000.
I would love to own one if I had more garage space, an AC Cobra that is.

Agree with richzack. All in all the tribute will still never be an original. And while I would expect the quality of the Tribute cars will be much better and will have a bit of a pedigree over a regular 'kit car', one could have just as much fun driving a Factory Five. My friend had one and I have to tell you, it roared and it moved like a bat out of hell…. good bang for your buck.
