Default Shocks and a book!

Good morning from sunny Seattle(today),
Two questions:

1) How do the shocks work on my 2007 XK(not R)? There is an electrical connector at top, why?

2) Any technical books yet for the XK development cycle? have a couple of good ones for my wife's XK8 but havn't seen any for the Al. body models.................

Cheers, Adrian

Take my answer with a grain of salt, since I have not read any detailed tech info on those shocks either. What I gathered that the electric inputs control the valving of the shock, adjusting it potentially thousands of times a second. The valve control would depend on factors, such as the road irregularities, and the type of driving "learned" by the ECU.

From what my experience is that it really works. My '05 XK had no electronic shock controls and it rode quite a bit poorer on 18" tires than my '08 XK does on 19" with the electronic shock control. The chief mechanic at my dealer claimed that all the improvements in ride came from the fast responding electronic shocks.
