Do our outside sideview mirrors have the automatic dimming feature? I notice some fairly bright headlights on the outside mirrors. My XK is a 2010. I would have assumed this would be a standard feature.

 

I would assume it to be a standard feature, but cant speak with 100% certainty.

Auto-dimming mirrors are supposed to be standard on MY11 cars. However, it's worth knowing that the sensor is in the interior mirror. Sometimes, if the lights from the car behind don't hit the sensor (particularly if they are high up, like on a truck/SUV), you don't get the full dimming effect. It's pretty easy to see if it's working, because the blue-green tint that appears doesn't completely cover the mirrors, so there's a silver rim around the outside of the tinted area.

 

I also keep a small piece of black electrical tape stuck to the top of my interior mirror. If traffic behind me has annoying lights, I just stick it over the forward facing light sensor, and all mirrors go to full dark almost instantly.
