Default Simple Navigation controls question

I realize this is a stupid simple question, and I can read fine.... but I can't read what I don't have. Namely, the "Navigation Booklet" that I assume came with the car 3 owners ago. Can someone help me out?

2007 XK just brought her home today. On the 11 hour trip home from Houston (to Memphis) I tried and tried to change the Navigation system from metric units to Imperial, but can not figure out where or how it is done. I was successful figuring out where to change from English (British) to English, but that did not do the trick, so it kept telling me I had 532 kilometers to go, and I kept telling it "that does not compute in my brain. I need miles!!!!"

Any info would be appreciated.
George

Welcome to the forum George,

I've moved your question from General Tech Help to XK/XKR forum. This is the place to post questions about your model.

If no one enlse has this as a single document, you can download the 2007MY Navigation Handbook from my Mediafire account split into 3 PDF's:

1. Specification

http://www.mediafire.com/file/djua2r..._05_30_701.pdf
2. Quick Start

3. Navigation Operation

Switching the settings from Metric to Imperial

From the main menu, touch Vehicle Settings
From the next screen, touch Units
From the next screen, touch Preferences
From the next screen, touch Miles, MPH, MPG
You can also switch from Centigrade to Fahrenheit on this screen

I like the British English setting over the American English computer sounding voice.

Hope this helps,

While I appreciate you moving my thread, as any good Mod would do, I would like to point out that I specifically asked my question in the "General Tech Questions" section because I know these nav. systems are used in many different models, and I thought not only would any ensuing discussion help multiple people across multiple Jag models, but it would also increase my odds of getting my question answered.
But I'm sure that the downloaded nav. handbook will answer this and many other questions! Again, thank you, a thousand times, thank you!!!!!

+1

I purposely delayed updating my Nav DVD's until I was sure I wasn't going to lose that sexy voice. Funny though, the wife always wants me to disable it when she's in the car.

I no longer use the built in Nav System. I find the Google system built into my Samsung Galaxy 6 Edge is better all around, it is always up to date, tells me about traffic problems and suggests alternative routing when necessary. FYI I have a mount that fits into the CD slot and has a magnet that attaches to a metal piece stuck on the back of the protective case. I also plug the phone into the cigar lighter to keep it charged. You may want to try this system.

Well, that would solve the problem we have discovered of where to put our phones while we drive... Now, to figure out why my right elbow wants to occupy the same space as the coffee cup in the driver's side cup-holder.

Seriously, though, could you show a pic of this mount? Is this something made specifically for this function, or is this something you fabricated?

Thank you JackJohn. I'd swear on a stack of Bibles I did that procedure already and it didn't work. But tonight my wife and I tried it again, and this time it worked. See, the weird thing is, everything - the odometer, trip-meter, range, average MPG - everything was showing Imperial distance and speed values except for the Nav. system, which was showing metric values. Now it's all Imperial, so thanks again!!!
