One would think that- but sadly not.
Its purely on the likelihood of an accident.
That's why the Aston was cheaper than an XE
My XKR is cheaper than my truck.

Yup, all based on statistics. Loads of factors used. I actually list my wife as primary driver because she has no points against her. Don't worry, she never uses it as firepower for the who is the better driver.

I'm not working with any dealers for DB9 or my next upgrade. I do have wholesale contacts in FL. I am doing nationwide searches. I'm pretty particular when it comes to colors, options, etc and do not mind making a trip out of it to acquire. With lower production cars, the search to find exactly what is wanted becomes a challenge however.

I bought both of my Aston's sight unseen from across the country. Waited for the dealer to come up with something and couldn't wait any longer in either case. Most cars I buy have been remote. My XK was sight unseen as well. Don't think you're going to see many Aston's going to auction. Check out Manheim's site and there are very little if any Aston's of any model going through. I would suggest a private party or wait until some dealer has the car you want. Could take a year if you are that particular, so be prepared to buy if that special car comes around next week... You may not see it again.

Insuring my F-type costs less than insuring my WRX. There is a huge upside driving a car mostly thought after by old geezers vs. a car that is thought after by boy racers insofar as insurance costs.

However both F-type and WRX equally capable of jostling your hemorrhoids. Both are far from cushy Buick driven to bingo games.

I did lots of research on my currently for sale 08 XKR convertible, but did want to see it before buying. I am in MA and found it in FL. Flew down drove up FL coast to Autotrain and met car back DC to drive to Boston. The trip was 1/2 the fun. Your signature line has a few others on my list. Pretty much any convertible that bests 420HP and 4.9 seconds 0-60 will be an upgrade for me. Any recommendation on best year for DB9? Or other things I shoud watch out for?

The thinking is that a WRX is used for impressing/ attracting boys.
By logic it makes it a high theft risk, especially when most likely parked behind an adult book store.

2011+ will get into the Virage which is a bridge between the older and newer styling & updates. 2013 is the final styling iteration and would be what I would suggest.

Must be why the ones in my neighborhood are driven by young women.

I am screenshotting those WRX comments and sending them to my friend who trounced me on a small track (me in the XKR, him in the Rex). It cost him the engine but I suspect he thinks it was worth it.

May not be his fault. WRX of certain vintages has a flaw with oil pickup. If you track them, you have to upgrade oil pan and pickup. Otherwise you can suffer oil-starvation related engine failures. STI doesn't have this issue as it has upgraded parts. Easiest way to address this is to install STI parts.

Is there some reward at these tracks where boys joust their WRX. Money, women, food, or is rubbing shoulders with men enough.

The same as with any extreme sport - tight community, skill-based challenge, risk taking, adrenaline. I am sure some do it for different reasons, but these are the main ones.

Plus, you don't need to actually get on a track to pose as a track guy. Guys driving slammed rice-rockets with a large wing and a loop at the back never find their way to the track. This is a good thing, we don't want them.

Sounds like a great way for chicken hawks to attract their prey. More kitties at a Star Trek convention.

Well. one of those cars wouldn't last a day at the track and suspect wouldn't pass a safety check either.

Something tells me you've not often been to an Uh'Murrican style short track event.

It is my observation of the human existence that the reasons people do things vary.

I would go to a track event first and foremost because I was good at it.

Being good at something for me is its own reward.

Hmm, you have to start somewhere though. 4 years ago I was very ordinary on a track. Nowadays I hold my own to some extent - or at least I dont get looks of pity - and I find it much more enjoyable.
